Tribal Youth Coordinator
Pay Range $12 – $18 / hour based on experience
16-20 hours per week
Job Description:
- Advocate for Mesa Grande’s youth
- Build a communications network with the families of Mesa Grande Tribal Youth
- Build a list of resources beneficial to the Tribe’s youth and ensure all Tribal families with children are aware of and have access to those resources
- Encourage Tribal youth involvement in Tribal Culture, Education, Sports, Technology and Civics
- Understand, spend and manage TANF/SCTCA grant funds according to the grant document and its objectives, rules and guidelines
- Utilize the funds of the TANF/SCTCA grant for Tribal youth to provide tutoring services, to coordinate coaches and athletic activities, to help Tribal youth to learn and experience Tribal culture, and for Education, Technology and youth development
- Coordinate efforts with local school districts to provide extended services to Tribal youth
- Coordinate Tribal activities for Tribal youth graduations
- Assist with planning youth activities at Tribal Gatherings and holiday celebrations
- Attend training and meetings with granting agency
- Prepare a monthly plan of events and activities
- Complete and timely submit monthly activity report for the grant
- Provide a monthly written report of activities
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience working with Tribal Youth and Families
- Education or sufficient Training in Child Development and/or Education or Psychology
- Good writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with budgets a plus
- Must pass a background check
- Must adhere to drug-free workplace requirements
- Must agree to Tribal Code of Conduct and Confidentiality
