On Wednesday and Thursday, July 27-28, representatives of the Department of Energy/National Renewable Energy Labs (DOE/NREL) will conduct a 2-day Strategic Energy Planning Session to help the Mesa Grande Band identify and prioritize its energy objectives.
The meetings will be held from 9 am to 4:30 pm both days at the Courtyard by Marriott/Rancho Bernardo. Interested tribal members are welcome to participate. There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required due to limited space. Please RSVP no later than Friday, July 22 so we can ensure adequate seating and food/beverage service. Morning coffee and box lunches will be provided.
The workshop is provided as free technical assistance by DOE. Its focus is on helping the tribe develop goals and strategies for meeting future residential, governmental and commercial energy needs on the 900-acres, which currently has no electrical grid service or other infrastructure.
The agenda includes discussion of energy goals, barriers to energy development, potential energy and community development projects, and financing options. The session will produce an actionable vision and prioritized plan for future community consideration.
